LA VERNE, CA — The Leopards found their groove from downtown against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps but fell 70-55 in a midweek matchup to the first-place Stags.
La Verne managed to go 9-21 from beyond the arc, including a hot 5-11 start in the first half, highlighted by junior
Darien Guyton's trio of threes. Sophomore guard
Carlos Bedolla also found his stroke, nailing a pair of triples. Junior
Logen Howard also drained a pair of threes.
Senior forward
Kyler Harvey led the Leopards, snatching 11 boards and scoring nine points in a gritty contest. Junior guard
Dahmaj Warren led all Leopards with 12 points.
The Stags never trailed by more than one point, as the Leopards played catch-up most of the night against a sharp-shooting CMS squad. The visitors forced 15 Leopards turnovers, totaling more than twice as many as the Stags.
Paul Antonis put up a tough defensive effort, finishing with a pair of blocks and steals to go with eight points and five rebounds.
La Verne will play inside the Tents on Saturday afternoon against the University of Redlands Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
