Three-Point Efficiency Not Enough for Leos

LA VERNE, CA — The Leopards found their groove from downtown against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps but fell 70-55 in a midweek matchup to the first-place Stags.

La Verne managed to go 9-21 from beyond the arc, including a hot 5-11 start in the first half, highlighted by junior Darien Guyton's trio of threes. Sophomore guard Carlos Bedolla also found his stroke, nailing a pair of triples. Junior Logen Howard also drained a pair of threes.

Senior forward Kyler Harvey led the Leopards, snatching 11 boards and scoring nine points in a gritty contest. Junior guard Dahmaj Warren led all Leopards with 12 points.

The Stags never trailed by more than one point, as the Leopards played catch-up most of the night against a sharp-shooting CMS squad. The visitors forced 15 Leopards turnovers, totaling more than twice as many as the Stags.

Paul Antonis put up a tough defensive effort, finishing with a pair of blocks and steals to go with eight points and five rebounds.

La Verne will play inside the Tents on Saturday afternoon against the University of Redlands Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
