PASADENA, CA — The Leopards surged in the final period and erased an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Caltech Beavers on the road Wednesday night, 57-53.
Brown led all players with 18 points and 11 rebounds to earn her 10th double-double of the season. Brown has scored in double figures every game this season and currently averages 20.9 points per game. She also added two steals, two assists, and a block.
Brown scored nine of her points in the fourth quarter to lead the comeback. She went on a tear midway through the quarter with La Verne trailing by eight making five straight points for the Leopards.
Brianna Torres got La Verne to within one when she drained a three-pointer with 2:43 left to put the score at 52-51. Brown put the Leopards ahead by one just over a minute later. Key free throws down the stretch by

Annie Trinh contributed 11 points in the for her second-straight double-figure performance.
With the win, the Leopards improved to 8-2 in SCIAC play and are currently in a tie for second place with Whittier. Cal Lutheran leads the SCIAC with an 8-1 record. La Verne moved to 12-5 overall.
The Leopards travel to Occidental on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip-off in a key game against the Tigers. Oxy is in fourth place in the SCIAC with a 7-3 record. La Verne defeated Occidental 71-66 earlier this season.
