Men's Cross Country Pack Runs Strong at Regionals

ESTACADA, OR — The University of La Verne men's cross country team concluded the 2024 season at the NCAA West Regionals, finishing in 13th place.

The Leopards' pack ran strong, just 30 seconds separated La Veren's top five finishers. Fernado Cortez Jr. paved the way with a time of 25:41 to take 51st overall.

Finn McClure (25:49), Zyeir Shabete (26:05), Destino Soto (26:09), and Thomas Taniguchi (26:11) rounded out the top five. Soto posted a lifetime best, shaving eight seconds off his previous time. Issac Stockon finished six for the Leopards, running a personal record of 26:40.

"It was a very good day. Our men ran an incredible pack. I'm super proud of the team effort from both squads. I'm confident this will become a defining characteristic of La Verne cross country in the years to come," said La Verne cross country head coach Rob Lander.
