LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's basketball team fell to Willamette University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 87-83. After trailing by 13 at the start of the second quarter, the Leo's comeback fell just short in the final minutes.

The Leopards fought hard to get back in the game after falling in an early hole. In the second and third quarters, La Verne outscored the Bearcats 46-37 from strong three-point shooting. In the fourth quarter, Annie Trinh's three-point shot tied the game at 83 with 56 seconds left. But the Bearcats scored four unanswered points to close out the victory.

The Leopard senior duo had another big night. Marissa Howell led La Verne with 21 points and four assists on 8-15 shooting. Annie Trinh finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Freshman guard Justine Prajinto also contributed with 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Allison McGill, Mia Mabang, and Jossy Calizo also chipped in with five points each off the bench.
