LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne Men's Basketball team delivered an impressive performance in a non-conference showdown against California Miramar University at the Tents, securing a commanding 123-84 victory. The Leopards set the tone early with a dominant first half, showcasing their offensive depth and strong team play throughout the game. Their high-scoring effort, fueled by balanced contributions from multiple players, proved to be too much for the Falcons, as La Verne clinched their first win of the season.
The Leopards were led by senior guard Dahmaj Warren, who delivered an all-around performance with 21 points, five rebounds, and shooting 7-8 in free throws. Paul Antonis chipped in 26 points, including going 7-8 in free throws, while Logen Howard added two steals and four assists. La Verne showcased its depth with 56 points off the bench, highlighted by Sharrod Lewis and Cody Aquino's 15 points a piece, while Aquino also shot 3-3 in three-pointers.
Cal Miramar was paced by Clayshaun Penn's game-high 24 points, while Waylon Anderson contributed 17 points. Despite their efforts, the Falcons struggled with turnovers and were outscored in the paint, 62-52.
The Leopards set the tone early, building a 68-42 halftime lead and maintaining control throughout the game. La Verne's balanced offense, shooting 49.4% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range, proved too much for Cal Miramar.
La Verne (1-6) will aim to continue their momentum in a home match-up Monday, December 16, at 1 PM against Westminster College.
