Marissa Howell took over the game, the Leopards played suffocating defense, and the University of La Verne Women's basketball team dominated on the road, beating Redlands 71-53
Season Impact
With the win, the Leopards improve to 15-6 overall and 11-3 in SCIAC play. More importantly, La Verne remains in a tie for first place in the SCIAC with Cal Lutheran with just two games left.

"We played extremely well on the defensive end tonight and we need to continue that going forward. We were extremely patient on the offensive end and executed against their zone. This win is a good building block for us at this point in the season," said head coach

How It Happened
Forwards took control of the game for the Leopards as Brown and Smith each earned a double-double in the win.
Brown led the Leopards with 23 points and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe. She dominated off the glass offensively, grabbing seven offensive boards and 11 total to record her third straight double-double and 13th of the season.. She also finished with four steals and two assists.
Smith shot over 50 percent from the field, finishing with 17 points, tying her career high, a team-high 12 rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Howell erupted for six three-pointers, tying her season high, ending with 22 points. Howell also dished out three assists and grabbed two boards.
After a slow start in the first quarter in a 7-point deficit, the Leopards turned up the defense and held the Bulldogs to just four points in the second quarter.
La Verne finished the game strong defensively and held the Bulldogs to just 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Cayla Harang grabbed six rebounds in the win.
