LA VERNE, CA — The No. 23 University of completed a dominant opening weekend with a 12-0 thrashing of Whitman Sunday afternoon.
The Leopards improved to 4-0 to start the year. They have outscored opponents 50-12 in their first four games and have recorded 63 hits and 43 RBIs.
Anthony Salcedo did it all for the Leopards in the win. The second baseman finished 2-3 with three RBI and swiped three bags. He drove in two runs in the second inning off a single to right and put the Leopards up 6-0 with an RBI single in the third in a game that was never in question.
Matthew Diaz continued his hot start to the season with a 3-5 performance at the plate. He also drove in a pair of runs and stole a base.
Malachi Francois added two RBI, one hit, and one run.
The Leopards finished the game with 14 hits.
