LA VERNE, CA — Despite an impressive 32-point, 10-rebound performance from graduate student guard
Paul Antonis, the Leopards surrendered a 90-73 loss to Whittier College Wednesday night.
Antonis single-handedly got the Leopards going in the second half, who exited halftime with a 20-point deficit. The Coarsegold, CA native scored nine of the first 11 Leopards' points, whose 32 points were a season-high. He was by far the most efficient from the field, shooting 11-23 overall.
The Leopards finished with three double-digit scorers, with junior guards
Darien Guyton tallying 12 and
Logen Howard notching 11. The trio of Leopards was not enough to contain the five Poets who finished with at least 10 points, as Whittier used their full-court press to pick up a win.
La Verne falls to 6-14 overall, 3-9 in SCIAC play as they look to recover against the University of Redlands Bulldogs in Redlands on Saturday, February 10 at 5 p.m.
