LOS ANGELES — The University of La Verne women's water polo team earned a commanding 11-5 win at Occidental Saturday afternoon.
The Leopards scored six goals in the second quarter and the game was never in doubt from there. La Verne improved to 5-1 in the SCIAC and is currently third in the tight conference race.
Sumi Rudisky and Reiley Burton both scored three goals. Taylor Olivia and Brooklyn Young netted two goals, and Taylor Stute scored once. Rudisky added three steals.
Kelly Jackson grabbed nine saves in the win and allowed just four goals from the field.
After a 1-1 first quarter, the Leopards rolled in the second sparked by a Burton penalty shot. La Verne closed the half strong, scoring three times in the final minute and a half.
The Tigers only managed to keep pace with the Leopards in the second half.
