PraTHOUSAND OAKS, CA — Alyssa Smith notched her seventh double-double of the season but the University of La Verne women's basketball team couldn't overcome a big second quarter surge from the Cal Lutheran Regals, falling 92-58.

Smith scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. She's currently tied for 24th in total double-doubles in NCAA DIII.

Jasmine Prajitno scored 12 points going 8-9 from the free throw line.

The Leopards and Regals were even at 18-18 early in the second quarter after Prajitno laid in a shot. But Cal Lutheran ended the period on a 20-6 run to take control for good.

Natalie Villamor led Cal Lutheran with 14 points. 

La Verne goes to 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the SCIAC. The Regals improve to 11-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Leopards return to action this Saturday when they travel to Pomona-Pitzer for a 2 p.m. tip-off against the Sagehens.
