MARSHALL, TX — Logen Howard delivered the dagger with 39 seconds left and the University of La Verne men's basketball team defeated East Texas Baptist 75-71 to pick up their third straight win.

Howard led the Leopards with 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He put the Leopards ahead for good when he sank a jumper in the paint to give his squad up 69-67 with 2:11 to go. His three-pointer late put the Leopards up 75-67.

Dahmaj Warren finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Warren ranks third in the SCIAC with 23.1 points per game. 

Paul Antonis was a menace defensively totaling five blocks and two steals to go with 16 points. Sharodd Lewis scored nine points on 4-7 shooting. 

The Leopards and Tigers played tight for most of the game in a showdown that featured 13 lead changes. Lewis laid in a shot to put La Verne up by one late in the first half and Antonis tipped in a shot with under a minute in the period to give the Leopards a 38-35 lead at the break.

La Verne never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 11. The Leopards closed the game on an 8–4 run aided by a late tip in from Cody Aquino.

The Leopards improve to 4-5 overall and drop the Tigers to 4-11. La Verne continues its Texas road trip tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. PST against Howard Payne University at East Texas Baptist.
