LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's basketball team struggled Wednesday night falling to the University of Redlands Bulldogs in a SCIAC matchup at home, 100-61.
The Leopards were led by Annie Trinh, who scored 16 points with four three-pointers and six rebounds. Niani Shields and Christen Ziska both finished in double figures. Shields got her most extensive playing time of the season, going 6-8 from the field with 14 points and five rebounds. Ziska finished with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
La Verne also made 61.5% of free throws compared to Redlands' 38.9%.
The Bulldogs strong offense shined, led by AJ Wick's 19 points and Alex Facelo's 18.
With the loss, La Verne fell to 0-4 in conference play and 3-9 overall. Redlands improved to 3-1 in conference and 8-5 overall.
The Leopards will look to get back on track this Saturday, January 11 when they take on the Whittier College Poets at 2 p.m. at Dave Jacobs Court.
