LA VERNE, CA– The University of La Verne women's soccer team fought hard for a 0-0 tie against the Whittier College Poets. The Leopards and Poets were evenly matched, which made for an exciting game at Ortmayer Stadium. 

Patricia Acoba showed off her impressive offensive skill with two shots on goal, and countless offensive breakaways up the right side. Laney Cutler was also dominant offensively, with three shots on goal and an incredible amount of possession time. Defensively, Maren Handel played one of her best games. In multiple one vs. one encounters, deep in Leopard territory, Handel "handled" Poets easily, complete with a beautiful side tackle. Natalie Portillo was in goal for the Leopards and had four saves.
