Leopards Fight Hard in Defensive Battle, Tie Kingsmen 0-0

THOUSAND OAKS, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team continued SCIAC play on Wednesday afternoon, batting to a scoreless draw with the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen. 

Two-time SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Hector Duenas-Pena kept the game scoreless while tallying up another six saves to put his season total at 61 and solidify him as the SCIAC's leader in saves.

The Leopards combined for eight shots, with five on goal, including one from reigning Leopard of the Week Diego Soto in the final seconds of play that the Kingsmen keeper saved to end the game at 0-0.

With the tie, The Leopards record stands at 6-6-4 overall and 4-4-2 in conference play. They currently sit in 5th place of the SCIAC and will look for a crucial win this Saturday at 7 PM against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at home. The race for the SCIAC Postseason Tournament is extremely tight with just three points separating first place from eighth place. The top-five teams will advance to the tournament
