Undefeated Leopards Dominate Cal Lutheran for 11th Sweep of the Season

THOUSAND OAKS, CA - The University of La Verne women's volleyball team continues to make perfection look routine. On Tuesday night, the No. 1-ranked Leopards rolled past California Lutheran in straight sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-16) inside Gilbert Arena, improving to 21-0 overall and 12–0 in SCIAC play.

From the first serve, La Verne set the tone with poise and precision. The Leopards' front line dominated the net, and their defense left little room for Cal Lutheran to breathe - forcing 21 attack errors while holding the Regals to a mere .032 hitting percentage.

From the opening serve, the Leopards' energy set the tone. They sparked the attack early, with junior outside hitter Mya Ray leading all players with 21 kills on an impressive .528 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs and an ace. The reigning AVCA Division III National Player of the Week-earning the honor for the second time this season-once again proved why she's one of the most dynamic players in the country, finding ways to score from every angle on the court.

Behind her, the Leopards' balanced offense continued to shine. Lauren Gott anchored the middle with nine kills and three blocks, while Zacky Coaston added seven kills on .357 hitting and four blocks to frustrate the Regal front line. Setter Vanessa Marquez guided the attack with 20 assists and 10 digs, keeping every hitter involved and Cal Lutheran guessing.

Defensively, La Verne was just as sharp. Keilani Mumolo led the backcourt with 19 digs, while Malia Capistrano provided a spark from the service line with 16 assists and three aces. The Leopards' front row combined for 14 blocks and held the Regals to a .032 hitting percentage, one of their most dominant defensive efforts of the season.

After a convincing 25-17 win in the first set, La Verne never looked back. Each rally seemed to showcase the team's chemistry - quick transitions, fearless swings, and relentless defensive coverage - hallmarks of a program operating at championship level.

The sweep marks La Verne's 11th of the season and extends their program-best unbeaten streak to 21 matches, continuing a remarkable run that has kept them atop the national rankings for six consecutive weeks.
