LA VERNE, CA— The University of La Verne volleyball team took down the Occidental College Tigers in three straight sets on Senior Night. The Leopards honored setter

Keilani Mumolo and
Bella Hargrave, right side hitter,
Lexi Giacobbe, middle hitter
Kaitlyn Bloomer, and outside hitter
Mya Ray.
After the ceremonies closed, the Leopards got to work in the first set. They pulled ahead immediately with a 7-0 lead, thanks to kills from Ray. Ray hit a .429 on the night, finishing with a total of 11 kills. The Tigers tried to battle back, but the Leopards went on another scoring run, making the score 20-7. Marquez varied her offense, and Giacobbe, Bloomer, and
Lauren Gott all found success. Marquez ended with 13 assists on the night. The set ended with a score of 25-9.
Set two was much closer. The Tigers came out stronger and pushed the Leos to 11-13. It was then the Leopards pulled ahead with
Zacky Coaston grabbing herself some kills. She totalled was five kills with one block. Giacobbe also shined in set two, scoring three of her six kills of the night. The Leopards won the set at 25-19.
The Leopards attacked early in the third set. They started fast and aggressive with a 11-3 lead, thanks to attack errors from the Tigers. La Verne capitalized on this and added kills from Bloomer, Alana Jones, and
Abigail Montana. Bloomer was a beacon for the Leopards, with a .200 hitting percentage, and three blocks on the night. The Leopards claimed the deciding set 25-13.
The Leopards will play in the post season on November 13th at 7 p.m. at home.
