LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's basketball team controlled the game from the opening tip, leading for the majority of the contest to secure a commanding 65-48 SCIAC victory over Caltech at the Sports Science and Athletic Pavilion.

The Leopards set the tone early, taking a 35-19 lead into halftime behind efficient shooting and strong defensive play. Senior guard Logen Howard was instrumental in the win, leading all scorers with 22 points on an impressive 10-for-14 shooting performance while also contributing five rebounds and four assists. Cody Aquino followed with 13 points and seven rebounds, adding a key presence on both ends of the floor. Graduate student Paul Antonis recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, further solidifying his leadership on the court.

La Verne's defense stifled Caltech throughout the game, holding the Beavers to just 26.2% shooting from the field and 10% from beyond the arc. The Leopards also dominated the rebounding battle, finishing with a 50-46 edge on the glass. Joshua Rook anchored the defensive effort with four rebounds and a steal, while Sharodd Lewis provided a spark off the bench with five points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

The Leopards (7-15, 2-11 SCIAC) will look to build on this victory when they return home to host Occidental College on Monday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the Tents.
