No. 6 Leopards Run-Rule No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer

LA VERNE, CA — The No. 6 University of La Verne Leopards took down the No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Friday 10-0 in seven innings, extending the Leos' win streak to 14 games.

Designated hitter Malachi Francois broke the game open in the fifth when he hit a base-clearing double to put the Leopards up 5-0. Catcher Nathan Perry collected three hits and two RBIs including a highlight-reel RBI triple in the seventh. First baseman Noah Garcia secured two hits and two RBIs.

Both starting pitchers started the game strong with only one run allowed through the first four innings. Ethan Galindo was on early, allowing just one hit and racking up three strikeouts through his first four innings. In the bottom of the fourth, the Leopards drew first blood as Nolan Anguiano doubled, and Perry drove him in with an RBI single.

The Leopards extended their lead in the fifth, scratching five runs across the frame. Three walks and a single from Garcia pushed across a run, and Francois's double drove in three. He eventually came around to score on a Sagehen error, and the Leopards quickly gave Galindo a sizable cushion

The seventh inning saw more of the same when La Verne scored four more times to walk it off via run rule. Perry delivered his RBI triple, Ryan Vosika delivered a sacrifice fly, and Garcia provided a knockout punch with a game-ending single.

Perry, Francois, and Garcia each scored a run to help take down their cross-town rival. On the bump, Galindo shined allowing no runs, two hits, and striking out three as he picked up his fifth win of the season
