Natalie Serrano connected for her first two collegiate hits as the University of La Verne softball team split their Monday doubleheader with the Williams College Ephs, dropping game one 2-1, but coming back and taking game two 3-1.
Game Two: La Verne 3, Williams 1
Alvarez pitched a scoreless five innings, only giving up four hits, while senior Kirsten Sanchez closed out the game and secured the win for La Verne, throwing two innings and allowing one run on four hits. William's starter Katie Blanch took the loss, going 5.2 innings, and surrendering three runs on six hits.

With the game tied up 1-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Serrano and senior center fielder
Ashley Rodriguez led off the frame with back-to-back singles. Returning from injury, freshman shortstop
Mackenzie Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring the go-ahead run that Serrano represented from third base. The Leopards extended their lead to 3-1 when Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch from Blanch.

La Verne's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning when senior right fielder
Angelina Alderete dropped down a bunt single and found her way home when senior left fielder
Sydney Diaz doubled down the left field line.
