Leopards‘s 2nd Half Comeback Falls Short in 80 to 72 loss

CLAREMONT, CA - The University of La Verne men's basketball team lost its SCIAC matchup on Saturday afternoon to the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 80-72 despite a strong second half.

Kason White led the leopards in scoring with 21 points. The junior was joined by two other Leopards in double figures. Carlos Bedolla had 19 points and seven rebounds while Cody Aquino notched 17 points.

The Leopards found themselves in a hole early with the first half favoring the Sagehens. At halftime, the Leos were down 46-34 but the second half saw a different story. A 10 point run that started around the 13 minute mark helped the Leopards get back into the game. The rest of the second half was a back-and-forth affair with Pomona-Pitzer ultimately closing it out.

The biggest difference maker in the ball game was the discrepancy in bench points. Outside of the starters, only two players recorded a field goal.

Up next, the Leopards will stay on the road as they head to Pasadena to take on Caltech on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
