REDLANDS, CA — The University of La Verne track and field team headed east and competed at teh annual Redlands Invitational, adding several program top-10 times and numerous personal records.

"It was a long, hot day in Redlands, but favorable winds provided opportunities for hot performances. We were very pleased with the effort, and it resulted in 25 personal bests. It has been a good week of training, and it was fun these past couple of days to watch us put things together."
New Top-10 Program Performances
Decathlete
Hunter Bond led the Leopards with a top-five national performance, personal best, and the third-best showing in school history. The senior finished with 5,996 points, ranking him fourth nationally. Bond also added two individual event PRs while competing in the decathlon. He finished first in the 1500m with a time of 4:54.45 and recorded a distance of 20' 11.25"
(6.38m) in the long jump.
Hurdler
Harrison Brown moved up to No. 6 on the La Verne performance list with a time of 15.35.
Alec Maxwell shined in the pole vault with a height of 13' 11.25" (4.25m) to rank fifth on the La Verne top-10 list.
Elena Cox and
Journee Jones led the women's squad. Cox now boasts the No. 9 best program mark in the pole vault at 8' 6.25" (2.60m). Jones moved to No. 7 in the hammer throw with a distance of 136' 6" (41.61m).
