SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Isaiah Figueroa hit a two-run home run, and the University of La Verne Leopards took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first against NCAA Division II opponent Cal State San Bernardino. But the Coyotes pulled away to defeat the Leos 18-6 on Tuesday evening. 

The lineup had a balanced day at the plate with eight different players recording a hit. Figueroa powered the heart of the order with his home run and two RBIs. RJ Libby, Aaron Whobrey, and Jake Ledford each contributed a hit and a run while Aidan Salcedo finished 1-2 with a run scored. Alek Bautista also collected an RBI to round out the scoring.

Rudy O'Dell got the start and allowed five earned runs through two innings. He picked up the loss and moves to 1-2 on the season. Whobrey, Zenen Pena, and Jordan Mansfield tossed 3.1 effective innings out of the pen, combining for no runs and six punch outs.

Up next, the Leopards will return to Ben Hines for a big-time showdown against the No. 9 ranked CMS Stags on Friday at 3 p.m. They'll continue the weekend series with a Saturday doubleheader hosted at Whittier College.
