ORANGE, CA – The University of La Verne softball team dropped game o of their three game series against No. 7 ranked Chapman Panthers on Friday afternoon by a final of 2-3.
The Leopardss got both runs in the fourth inning. Leadoff singles from Brooke Petretti and Aries Alonso started the rally. After Annica Luna moved both runners into scoring position with an effective sacrifice bunt, Angelina Ratzlaff recorded a ringing double to left center, collecting two RBIs.
Allie Colenzo, Kylee Knight, Petretti, Alonso, and Luna all recorded a hit, while Ratzlaff went 1-3 and accounted for all runs batted in. In the circle, Brianna Vasquez delivered another solid outing. The righty tossed six innings while allowing just one earned run on five hits. Despite her performance, she picks up the loss and moves to 8-8 on the season.
Up next, the Leopards will continue the series against the Panthers with a Saturday double header starting at 12 p.m. at Campus West.
