LA VERNE, CA – The Leopards trounced the Panthers in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday. Freshman

Alanna Jones combined for 10 blocks, half of the team's total on the night. Newcomer
Allison Mason swung big and scored, earning the team 15.5 points.
Set one was over quickly. Rookie middle blocker Snider stepped up and sealed the net with right-side Jones to gain momentum. Outside hitters
Lauren Gott and
Allison Mason stacked points early, forcing the Panthers to crawl their way back. Mason finished the evening with a .385 hitting percentage, 13 kills, two aces, and nine digs. Gott matched her dig total, tallying nine herself, along with team-high14 kills and a .286 hitting percentage. The Leopards established themselves early, pulling ahead by 11. Two more outside kills, combined with errors on Chapman's part, led to a 25-19 win.
Set two proved to be more competitive. The jungle cats battled it out until the score read 12-10 in favor of the Leopards. Gott swung her lethal arm, and the Leopards did not look back. Freshman setter
Jordyn McCoy earned back-to-back service aces, adding to her total of five on the night, and the Leopards led 20-10. McCoy's trickery at the net put the Panthers on their heels, and the set finished 25-13.
The Panthers struck the Leopards in the third set. La Verne stacked errors, giving Chapman false confidence. The set ended 25-13.
The Leopards came out motivated in the fourth set. Middle blocker
Abigail Montana took big swings, earning herself a .500 hitting percentage. Her front row dominance with Jones kept the Panthers at bay, with a final score of 25-20.
Zacky Coaston finished with eight kills,
America Reynaga totaled 21 assists, and Jordan McCoy added 17 assists along with a career-high five aces.
Morgan Watkins led all players with 15 digs.
La Verne volleyball is back in action on October 3, in The Tents at 2 p.m. to face the CMS Athenas.
