LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team strolled to a 3-0 win against the George Fox Bruins Thursday night in their home opener.

Season Impact

The Leopards pick up their first win of the season to improve to 1-0-1.

Standouts

Juan Manzano led the Leopards with one goal and one assist. UC Santa Barbara transfer Isaiah Barber posted two assists in his Ortmayer Stadium debut

Senior Joshua Simonton was dominant in the net, recording six saves in the shutout.

How It Happened

The duo got the scoring started in the 11th minute. Barber picked off a Bruin free kick and dealt a perfect pass to a streaking Manzano, who finished with his left foot to the opposite post.

Under two minutes later, Alexander Bastidas increased the lead to 2-0 when he slid a shot under the diving keeper after Manzano flicked over a pass.

Later in the second half, Aiden Tapia-Palacios brought home another goal to balloon the lead to 3-0. Tapia-Palacios won a contested ball, dribbled through several defenders, and offloaded to Barber. Barber sent it back to Tapia-Palacios, who finished to put the game away.

Next Game
