LA VERNE, CA — Juan Manzano finished the day with a standout performance of one goal and two assists, and the University of La Verne men's soccer team dominated Russell Sage College 4-0 in Saturday's match.

With the win, the Leopards improve to 2-0-1 on the season and earn their second straight shutout. 

Diego Soto started things off for the Leopards with a goal tapped in from a Juan Manzano assist in the ninth minute, giving La Verne a 1-0 lead at the half. Soto now has two goals on the season. 

The Leopards came out firing in the second half, scoring three goals. First, Tyler Valdez knocked in a header off of the Juan Manzano free kick for his first goal of the season.

The third goal would come from a miraculous Valdez play where he got past two defenders in the penalty box and crossed the ball for Manzano to finish it. Valdez ended the day with one goal and one assist. 

In the 85th minute, Kai Garza was awarded a penalty that he buried to bring the Leopards to four goals and end the contest with another dominant shutout.
