Luke Garcia, Baseball Graudate Assistant

Luke Garcia

The University of La Verne baseball program welcomes former Leopard outfielder Luke Garcia as a Graduate Assistant Coac. Garcia, a four-year standout under Head Coach Scott Winterburn, now transitions into a coaching role, where he will work alongside the staff to help develop the next generation of Leopards.

In his new role, Garcia will assist Coach Gabe Miranda in working with the outfielders, leading position-specific drills, and helping manage team statistics. His extensive playing experience, spanning 18 years, combined with his deep knowledge of the game, makes him a valuable asset to the coaching staff.

Garcia earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in behavior from La Verne and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. His background in psychology provides him with unique insight into player development, team dynamics, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture.

Before returning to La Verne, Garcia gained coaching experience at La Serna High School, where he led the freshman baseball team during the summer of 2021. He also assisted La Serna Head Coach Anthony Gonzales with his 12U travel ball team, mentoring young athletes and helping them refine their skills.

Garcia is a firm believer in the power of team culture in shaping both athletic and personal growth. He emphasizes accountability, camaraderie, and trust as essential components of a successful program. His goal is to help create an environment where players develop on and off the field, preparing them for success beyond the game.

“Being a part of this program again has been the most rewarding experience I’ve had in coaching so far,” Garcia states. “La Verne sets itself apart through the strong bonds within the team and a relentless pursuit of excellence. I will do my absolute best to contribute to a championship-winning culture.”
