Jeffrey Joyner joined the University of La Verne as the Head Women's Soccer Coach in June 2026.

Joyner arrives at La Verne after spending more than two decades building a reputation as one of the most respected coaches in Southern California soccer. He most recently served as Associate Head Coach at Long Beach State University, where he spent 20 years helping guide the Beach to sustained success at the NCAA Division I level.

During his tenure at Long Beach State, the Beach captured five Big West Conference regular-season championships, four Big West Tournament titles, and earned seven NCAA Tournament appearances. Among the program's most memorable accomplishments was a historic run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2011, the furthest postseason advancement by a Big West women's soccer program. That season, Long Beach State finished 18-6-1 while setting school records for wins, goals, assists, and points.

Joyner played an instrumental role in all aspects of the Long Beach State program, including recruiting, player development, match preparation, scouting, budget management, travel operations, and NCAA compliance. His efforts helped produce 29 All-Region selections, 117 All-Conference honorees, and two NWSL Draft picks while establishing a culture centered on excellence, accountability, and student-athlete success.

Prior to his promotion to Associate Head Coach, Joyner helped Long Beach State establish itself as a conference power. During his first two seasons with the program, the Beach set school records for victories in consecutive years, earned the first national rankings in program history, and captured the program's first Big West Championship in 2006. He also contributed to Long Beach State's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008 and helped the program secure consecutive NCAA Tournament berths in 2011 and 2012.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Joyner has served as ECNL/USSDA Director and Head Coach at Beach Futbol Club since 2008. Under his leadership, Beach FC became one of the nation's premier youth development programs, capturing a USYSA National Championship in 2014, finishing as national runner-up in 2015, and placing third nationally in 2012. He has helped guide more than 60 players into the U.S. Youth National Team player pool and has twice been recognized as Cal South Youth Coach of the Year.

Joyner's influence has also extended to the national level. From 2014 to 2017, he served as a U.S. Soccer Federation Training Center Lead and Staff Coach, collaborating with U.S. Soccer Technical Advisors and Youth National Team staff to identify and develop elite female players throughout Southern California.

Prior to Long Beach State, Joyner spent five years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Cal State Dominguez Hills. His first season with the men's program culminated in the 2000 NCAA Division II National Championship, and he later helped the program reach another national championship match in 2001 before transitioning to the women's program.

A former collegiate player, Joyner competed at Cal State Dominguez Hills after transferring from LA Harbor College, where he earned two All-South Coast selections. He was also a standout player at South Torrance High School, earning two all-league selections and All-CIF honors as a senior.

Joyner earned a Bachelor of Arts in Quantitative Economics from Cal State Dominguez Hills and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Hood College. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation A License, the NSCAA National Diploma, and ISPAS Level 1 Performance Analyst Accreditation.

Joyner and his wife, Tiffany, reside in Seal Beach and have two children, Kennedy and Declan.
