LA VERNE, Calif.- The University of La Verne Women's soccer team was out for their first SCIAC win of the season after their tie game against Whittier College on Wednesday. They found home field advantage in tonight's game against the Caltech Beavers and a 2-0 win.
Â
The scoreboard stayed neutral for the first twenty minutes of the game as both the Leopards and the Beavers kept equal possession of the ball and competitive defensive strengths.
Serenity De la Torre has been a highlight for the preseason and secured the first goal of the evening when De la Torre tapped it in for the lead, 1-0. Although the Leopards did not allow many shots in their territory, Leopard keeper
Abigail Macedo finessed three swift saves to prevent the Beavers from an equalizer, enabling full confidence for her team to dominate the Beavers' territory, forcing the Caltech keeper to face 10 shots in the first half.
The second half started much like the first, then with twenty minutes of action in the second half
Serenity De la Torre, unassisted, found the net yet again for a brace performance. When the clock struck zero, the Leopards claimed the win 2-0.Â
The University of La Verne will continue SCIAC play this Wednesday, Sept 27th, at Chapman University with a 4pm kickoff.
