Women's Hoops Picks Up Win at Life Pacific

SAN DIMAS, CA — The University of La Verne women's basketball team took a short trip down Arrow Highway to pick up their first win of the season, defeating the Life Pacific Warriors 72-61.

How it Happened
  • Trailing 7-6 early, the Leopards ended the first quarter on a 13-4 run, highlighted by two Marissa Howell three-pointers to take the lead for good.
  • The Warriors and Leopards keep pace in the second quarter each scoring 13 points. Life Pacific shot 50 percent from the field but couldn't close the deficit.
  • Allison McGill went off in the third quarter, scoring 13 points off 5-5 shooting from the field with three three-pointers and two rebounds.
  • Howell finished strong, scoring eight points in the fourth with two more makes from beyond the arc to seal the win.
Notables
  • McGill scored a team and career-high 18 points. She made four three-pointers, grabbed six assists, and had one steal.
  • Alyssa Smith grabbed 16 rebounds to tie her career-high. She scored 14 points and had four assists. It is her second double-double of the season.
  • Howell made four three-pointers and totaled 14 points. Howell's career point total is now at 994.
  • The Leopards made 10 three-pointers.
  • Adrianna Torres led the Warriors with 12 points.
