LA VERNE, CA — The Leopards battled in extra innings but fell in a pair of games to York College Thursday evening.
Game One: York 3, La Verne 2 (8 Innings)
The Leopards jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third but the Spartans evened the game in the top of the sixth. After a scoreless seventh, York plated a run off a wild pitch to edge the Leopards in game one.
Ashley Rodriguez singled to left with the bases loaded in the third and drove in
Angelina Alderete to give La Verne the 1-0 lead. After
Isabella Garcia reached on a fielder's choice,
Marissa Acosta drew a bases-loaded walk to extend the Leopards' lead to 2-0.
The Spartans got on the board with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the sixth and evened the with an infield ground out that scored another run.
Game Two: York 9, La Verne 1
Alderete led the Leopards with two hits but La Verne couldn't recover from an early 5-0 deficit in game two.
Acosta played the Leopards' lone run of the game in the fourth when she hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Rodriguez.
Season Impact
The Leopards moved to 2-6 and York improved to 4-2.

La Verne continues nonconference action on Tuesday, March 5 when they host John Carrol University in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
