LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne baseball team couldn't overcome an early deficit Saturday and was eliminated from the SCIAC Postseason Tournament in a 4-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Leopards will now have to wait and see if their season accomplishments are enough to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will be streamed on Monday, May 13 at 9 a.m. on NCAA.com.
How to watch the selection show
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth with the bases loaded,
Aiden Salcedo scored
Matthew Diaz on a sacrifice fly to center. But that was as close as the Leopards would get. The Stags extended their lead in the sixth with a two-run shot over the right field fence.
Ryan Vosika went 2-3 at the plate. Diaz,
Logan Reese, and
Noah Garcia each added a hit.
Chase Pedersen pitched four innings in his start.
Niko Urquidi struck out two in two innings of relief.
The Stags advanced to face Pomona-Pitzer in the championship round.
