WHITTIER, CA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team opened SCIAC play at Whittier, falling 1-0 to the Poets.
Abigail Macedo did all she good to keep the Leopards in the match, recording a season-high seven saves.
The Poets scored the lone goal a minute into the second half.
The Leopards couldn't get much going offensively, managing just three shots with two goals both in the first half.
Courtney Okumura's attempt was saved in the 13th minute and
Natalia Cruz was turned away in the 26th minute.
La Verne moves to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the SCIAC. The Leopards return home on Thursday, September 19 at 7 p.m. against Elmhurst.
