LA VERNE, CA — Ana Preciado found the back of the net in the 12th minute and that was all the offense the Leopards needed in a 1-0 win over the Elmhurst Blue Jays Thursday night
La Vene improves to 3-2-2 overall and moves their home record to 3-1-1.
When Jordan Moody stole away possession near the sideline, close to midfield, Preciado slipped past her mark and darted toward the goal. Moody struck a perfect pass across the field and Preciado put it away to give La Verne the lead.
Blue Jays couldn't muster up much attack and took only five shots the entire game, with just one on goal. Abigail Macedo took care of Elmhursts' lone on-target shot, grabbing a save on her only opportunity.
Serenity De la Torre came close to expanding the Leopards' lead several times, finishing with three shots on goal. She had her best opportunity in the 25th minute when she took a left-footed shot from the top of the box. A slight deflection from the defender slowed the ball down just enough to let Elmhurst keeper Erin Fitzharris make a diving stop.
La Verne improves to 3-2-2 and will begin conference play with a trip to Thousand Oaks against the Cal Lutheran Regals on Saturday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
