Leopards Roll to 4-0 Win at Caltech

PASADENA, CA, — Megan Llopis gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute and the University of La Verne women's soccer team continued the onslaught to beat Caltech 4-0 Saturday afternoon.

Four different Leopards scored goals and notched assists in the win. Courtney Okumura capped La Verne's performance, assisting on Llopis' goal and scoring one of her own in the 69th minute. She helped get the scoring started when she chipped a pass into Llopis who knocked it to the back of the net for the early lead. Okumura put the stamp on the win when she was left alone in the box. Vivianna Rodriguez crossed a pass and Okumura put it away to put the Leopards up 4-0.

After a half-hour dry spell, Miranda McGarry connected with Alyssa Marquez to double the Leopards' lead in the 39th minute.

Just under 10 minutes into the second half, Serenity De la Torre sent a pass from the end line to Kristen Smick who finished it with her left foot for the 3-0 advantage.

The Leopards finished with 21 shots in the game with 14 on goal.

Abigail Macedo only needed to grab two saves thanks to the rest of the defense holding the Beavers to six shots in the game.

The Leopards improve to 4-4-2 overall and 1-2 in SCIAC conference play.
