LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's basketball team faced the California Lutheran University Kingsmen in a SCIAC match at the Sports Science Athletic Pavilion on Wednesday night, falling 95-62.
Dahmaj Warren, the second-highest scorer in the SCIAC with 308 overall points scored, dropped 17 of La Verne's points. Warren is currently ranked third in NCAA DIII with 25.8 points per game.
Paul Antonis picked up 14 points and five rebounds while
Joshua Rook added 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Logen Howard handed out six assists and scored five points.
The Leopards played close with Cal Lutheran for most of the first half despite hot shooting from the Kingsmen. But La Verne struggled from the field in the final 20 minutes and Cal Lutheran's 15 made three-pointers caught up to the Leopards.
Devon Lewis, who trails directly behind Warren in overall points scored with 265 in the SCIAC, scored 18 points for the Kingsmen. Nick Attanasio racked up 10 points and four rebounds. Jake Martin finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Pipersburgh also added seven rebounds.
La Verne is now 0-4 in conference play and 5-8 overall while Cal Lutheran is 3-1 in the SCIAC and 10-3 overall.
The Leopards will try to rebound from this game when they take on the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens at 4 p.m. this Saturday in Claremont.
