LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team dominated the University of Redlands in the 2025 season's home finale.
Megan Sewell scored the Leopards' impressive goal in the second half, and the Bulldogs couldn't score the equalizer as the Leos won 1-0.
The first half was competitive and aggressive. Both teams made valiant efforts to find the net.
Katy Beck was in the goal for the Leopards and stopped every attempt, keeping the Leopards in the game. The former Leopard of the Week had two saves heading into the second half and finished with five.
As the second half got under way, the Leopards started taking shot after shot. Sofia Chiovarre,
Maren Handel, and
Patricia Acoba were all shooting, but it wasn't until ten minutes into the second half that the Leos found success. The Bulldogs fouled the Leopards deep in Leopards territory and the junior defender and La Verne native,
Megan Sewell, took the free kick and booted it into the top right corner of the net. The ball cleared the heads of all the Bulldog defenders and the goalie and made the score 1-0. The Bulldogs could not recover after and the Leopards came away with their second SCIAC win.
The Leopards play their final game of the season at Chapman University on November 1st, at 11 a.m.
