Men's Soccer Ready to Open SCIAC Tournament

ORANGE, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team is set to open the SCIAC Tournament.

The Leopards travel to Chapman on Tuesday, November 4, for the 5 p.m. first round game against the Panthers.

The Leopards enter the matchup with a 7-6-5 overall record and a 5-4-3 mark in SCIAC play. The Panthers enter 6-6-4 overall and 5-4-3 conference record but own the tiebreaker over the Leopards thanks to a 2-1 win over La Verne earlier this year. However, the Leopards defeated Chapman 1-0 in a nonconference game this season.

La Verne will be led by three-time SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week Hector Duenas-Pena. The Leopards bring a balanced offensive attack. Diego Soto leads La Verne with four goals. Alexander Bastidas, Israel Jimenez Ramirez, Juan Manzano, and Kevin Arreola have each scored three goals.

The Panthers are led by Dylan Paine and Evan White, who have scored four goals apiece.

The winner will travel to No. 1 seed and SCIAC Regular Season Champion Occidental on Thursday.
