Antonis Passes 1,000 Career Points

LA VERNE, CA — Paul Antonis had a historic night, scoring a career-high 34 points and surpassing 1,000 career points Wednesday night against the University of Redlands.

The University of La Verne men's basketball team battled late but fell to the Bulldogs 86-78.

Antonis was on fire from beyond the arc, making six of nine three-pointer attempts. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to record his fourth double-double of the season and added two blocks and an assist. The graduate student from Coarsegold, CA has persevered through injury during his La Verne career to reach the historic mark. He currently stands at 1,007 points.

Logen Howard finished with a career-high 10 assists, to go with seven points, six rebounds, and three steals.

Gavin Ibrahim scored 11 points with two three-pointers and five rebounds.

The Leopards closed the game strong, erasing a 19-point deficit with 5:09 to play with help from two big threes from Ibrahim and another from Antonis to get to within six with five seconds to play. But the Bulldogs made two clutch free throws to seal the win.

Lucas Gordon led the Bulldogs with 24 points and Kendrick Currey added 15.

La Verne moves to 6-15 overall and 1-11 in the SCIAC.

The Leopards return to action with a 4 p.m. game against Caltech at 4 p.m. this Saturday
