LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne women's basketball team fell 75–56 to the University of Redlands on Wednesday night in The Tents.
Isabella Gray-Musolff led the Leopards with 18 points, eight rebounds, and one assist, while Alyssa Smith delivered another strong performance with 17 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. With the outing, Smith now sits just four points shy of 200 points on the season. Jasmine Prajitno also added seven points.
The Leopards started strong, trailing by just eight points heading into the second quarter, but were unable to keep the Bulldogs at bay, heading into halftime down 38–22. The biggest statistical gap came from three-point range, with the Bulldogs, who are receiving votes in both WBCA and D3hoops.com polls, connecting on 6-of-19 attempts (31.6%) compared to La Verne's 1-of-14 shooting (7.1%).
Although La Verne outscored Redlands in the fourth quarter 25-24, it was not enough for a comeback.
The Leopards (4-8 overall, 0-4 SCIAC) will look to regroup this Saturday against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in Claremont at 4 PM.
