PASADENA, CA - The University of La Verne women's basketball team traveled to Pasadena to take on the Caltech Beavers in a SCIAC matchup, falling 47-41.
Alyssa Smith had another dominant performance with 25 points and 11 rebounds, marking her 12th double-double of the season. Kaylee Shimoda knocked down three pointers while Jayda Felix collected nine rebounds.Â
With the score 26-14 heading into the third quarter, La Verne was looking to make a comeback, and was able to outpace the Beavers 13-12. In the fourth, the Leopards were near perfect at the free throw line, going 7-8. With a minute and 21 seconds left on the clock, Shimoda dropped one of her threes to close the gap to three points, but the Leopards were unable to complete the comeback.
La Verne will close out the 2026 season this Saturday in The Tents at 4 PM against Pomona-Pitzer, celebrating three seniors.
