LA VERNE, CA — Freshman pitcher Jack Holguin added another accolade to his long list of accomplishments, snagging ABCA/Rawlings Fourth Team All-American honors and  D3baseball.com Fifth Team All-American accolades in his first year as a Leopard.

This award follows a plethora for the ace, including First Team All-Region honors from D3Baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings, Region 10 Pitcher of the Year from ABCA/Rawlings, and Region 10 Rookie of the Year and Pitcher of the Year from D3baseball.com.

During the regular season, Holguin grabbed both SCIAC and national attention, earning First Team All-SCIAC honors, the SCIAC Pitcher of the Year award, the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year,  SCIAC Pitcher of the Week (twice), D3baseball.com Team of the Week, and national recognition as the NCBWA Pitcher and Rookie of the Week. 

Holguin posted an outstanding 8-1 record while logging 60.1 innings and striking out 50 batters in 13 appearances, including nine starts. He finished with a standout 2.69 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP and allowed just 18 earned runs all season.

Holguin was one of four starting pitchers selected to the Fifth Team. The kinesiology major, who has been playing since he was four years old, plans on becoming an EMT.
