WALLA WALLA, WA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team faced off at Whitman College to end their trip to Washington, posting their first shutout of the season and leaving the state with a 0-0 draw.
The Leopards backline did their part to limit chances by the Blues, holding Whitman to just two shots on goal, both of which freshman
Sophia Penaflor snagged. La Verne rallied off eight shots, five on goal in the match, two coming from
Natalie Kooba.
The Leopards started off the first half disciplined on defense and aggressive on offense. They got three shots on goal, but the Blues' defense didn't break. The Blues returned the favor and had three shots on goal in the first half.
The first half ended 0-0. Both teams came out, fired up from halftime. The Blues were very physical and were called for seven fouls throughout the second half.
The Leopards return and continue non-conference action this Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m. vs. the University of Santa Cruz.
