LA VERNE, CA — Zacky Coaston has been named the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the opening week, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.

The senior had a dominant showing at the net in the Leopards' start to the season, leading her squad with 16 blocks at the Pacific Coast Classic. She had her biggest game defensively in a win against Southwestern, finishing with 11 blocks. She also finished the week with 26 kills, including 11 against Lassel.

The Leopards return to action this weekend as they co-host the Whittier/La Verne Invitational. La Verne will play four games beginning on Friday, September 11 at 3 p.m. against UC Santa Cruz.
