Smith Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

LA VERNE, CA — Alyssa Smith has been named the SCIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Monday.

Smith was dominant in the Leopards' only game of the week. She led La Verne to an 84-71 win over Whitworth, notching her sixth double-double of the season. Smith scored a career-high 36 points, and grabbed 11 rebounds, with three assists and two blocks. Smith was a perfect 8-8 from the line and knocked down a pair of three-pointers. Smith ranks 11th in NCAA DIII with six double-doubles and 19th with 116 rebounds. She's averaging 13.8 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game.
