SAN ANTONIO — The University of La Verne baseball team is set to open the Regional Round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

The Leopards (27-13-1) face the Trinity University Tigers (31-12), ranked No. 12 by the ABCA and No. 13 by D3baseball.com. La Verne enters the series ranked No. 16 by both publications.
The Tigers represent the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and like the Leopards won their conference regular season title before falling in the conference tournament.
The squads will play a best-of-five series and the winner will advance to the super regional round.
Trinity is led by SCAC Coach of the Year Tim Scannell, SCAC Pitcher of the Year Jackson Teer and three First Team All-SCAC selections. The Leopards counter with the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year, SCIAC Newcomer of the Year Niko Urquidi and First Team All-SCIAC selection Gerald Terry and Nathan Perry.
Game one of the regional will be played on Friday, May 17. Games two and three will be played on May 18. If necessary, games four and five will be played on May 19.
There will be no advance ticket sales. Gates will open two hours prior to the scheduled game time. Single-game tickets are $5 and tickets for the entire tournament are $20. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
The winner of the series will play against the winner of the Case Western, Alvernia, Ithaca, and Lynchburg pod in a super regional on May 24th and 25th.
