RENO, NV — The University of La Verne men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Nevada to open up the indoor season at the Reno Invitational. Despite being the only NCAA DIII school in attendance, La Verne delivered an impressive performance with the men's team achieving 19 new personal bests and the women's team adding 12 of their own.
On the first day of the meet,
Hunter Bond scored 3,628 points in the heptathlon to set a new personal record and move to No. 2 on the La Verne top-10 list.
Dawson Bell delivered in the indoor 200m race, posting a new best, and climbing to the No. 4 spot on the all-time ULV list for the event with a time of 26.52. Bell added another PR in the 60m dash, finishing with a time of 8.06 to move to No. 3 on the La Verne list.
Madison Xie (10.01m, 32'10 ¼") and
Emily Hernandez (8.11m, 26'7 ¼") both set PRs in the 20-pound weight throw.

Madison Bravo (5:53.17),
Fernando Cortez 4:35.04),
Diego Herrera (4:41.45),
Thomas Taniguchi (4:52.63), and Sebastian Rios (5:03.07) all set new PRs in the indoor mile.
Rounding out day one and the running portion of the invitational,
Chloe Chong (1:15.26),
David Ramirez (53.35),
Zyeir Lasley-Shabete (53.35), and
Dhruv Patel (54.43) all posted PRs in the 400m race.
Day two of the invitational was another rewarding day for the Leopards and featured many more personal bests.
"We had a successful weekend with solid performances and positive learning experiences," said University of La Verne Track and Field Head Coach
Kevin Reid. "To have a chance to compete in a brand-new world-class facility against quality fields, will pay dividends in the coming months."
The Leopards will look to impress again when they travel to Arizona this upcoming weekend to compete in the Ron Mann Invitational at Northern Arizona University.
