REDLANDS, CA — Ryleigh LaRue,
Harrison Brown, and
Hunter Bond led the University of La Verne with podium finishes at the 2026 SCIAC Championships. The trio all posted personal records on their way to top-three finishes.
LaRue took second in the 800m run with a lifetime best time of 2:16.92. The mark is the second fastest time in program history. The performance marks LaRue's first podium finish in her Leopard career.
Brown posted a personal record time of 55.43 to take second in the 400m hurdles. His time ties for ninth in La Verne history. Brown nearly earned another podium finish in the 110m hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 15.35, tying his personal best and the ninth-best time in ULV history.
Bond took second place in the decathlon with 6203 points, a new personal record, moving him to number three on the La Verne All-Time List. Along the way, he PR'd in the 1500m (4:45.04). His second-place finish is the first podium finish in the senior's career. Bond also finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 43.76m (143' 7").
Sir Jordan Underwood nearly made the podium, finishing fourth in the triple jump. His personal record leap of 13.58m (44' 6¾") was just a quarter inch away from finishing in third.
Alec Maxwell took sixth in the pole vault with a height of 4.27m (14' 0"). Deon Jordan had a big showing in the long jump at 6.60m (21' 8") to take sixth.
Zyeir Lasley-Shabete added to the Leopards' success in the middle distance, taking seventh at
1:58.45.
Journee Jones represented the Leopards well in the shot put with a big PR to take seventh. The sophomore posted a mark of 11.10 (36' 5") on her fifth attempt, over two feet further than her previous best 10.41m (34' 2). Jones took fifth in the hammer throw on day one of the championships.
Caydance Hook scored points for the Leopards with a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon with 2688 points.
Both the men's and women's squads finished the meet in eighth place.
