LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne women's volleyball program has once again been voted No. 1 in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division III Coaches Poll, marking the fourth consecutive week the Leopards have held the top spot. The Oct. 14 poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association confirms La Verne's place atop the rankings with 80 first-place votes and 2,144 total points, as the squad maintains an undefeated record at 16-0.
La Verne's reign in the poll continues to be challenged by East Texas Baptist, ranked No. 2 this week with 5 first-place votes and 2,059 points, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which remains in third with 1,941 points.
Since first claiming the top spot earlier this fall, the Leopards have showcased consistency and composure through every challenge; combining a powerful offense, sharp serving, and relentless defense that continues to separate them from the field.
Teams rounding out this week's top five include East Texas Baptist, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Juniata, but La Verne remains the unanimous choice at No. 1 according to the Week 7 poll.
The Leopards aim to keep their perfect season alive as they return home to The Tents tonight for a 7 p.m. matchup against Chapman University.
