Reid Sets Top DIII Mark in Long Beach, Leopards Post Personal Records at Oxy

LONG BEACH | LOS ANGELES, CA — Zachary Reid set the top time in NCAA DIII in the 110m hurdles and the University of La Verne men's track and field team continued to set new personal records at the prestigious Oxy Distance Classic.

Reid set the early top mark at the Beach Opener hosted by Long Beach State. The senior finished with a time of 14.75 in the competitive heat.

Standout freshman Destino Gonzalez-Soto continued to impress with a 22-second PR in the 5K to land himself at No. 6 on the La Verne All-Time List with a time of 15:09.65. Sebastian Ruiz also set a new personal best in the 5K by 15 seconds, 15:48.70.

Roberto Reynoso added to the fast marks in the distance events with a personal record in the 10K of 33:24.12, 26 seconds faster than his previous best. Thomas Taniguchi took 13th overall in the event with a time of 32:49.11.

Two Leopards finished in the top 15 in the 1500m. Finn McClure took 12th (4:01.64) and Fernando Cortez posted 13th (4:01.99).

Harrison Brown finished with the best placing of the day for the Leopards at the Oxy meet. The freshman took fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.95, just off his personal best time of 15.92

In the sprints, David Ramirez ran a new best time of 11.55. Hunter Bond finished in the top 25 with a time of 11.40.

Dhruv Patel ran a new person record in the 400m at 53.52.

The 4x400m relay team of Ramirez, Hunter Bond, Blossom Olaosebiken, and Dhruv Patel finished fourth, ending at 3:35.13.

"It was a long, but productive day both on the track and in the field for the Leopards. With the field events starting at 9:00 a.m. and the running events concluding on the track at 10:00 p.m., the Leopards enjoyed a great So Cal day of track and field. With a total of 13 Personal Bests (6 for the Men and 7 for the Women) we continue to build momentum towards championships season throughout the month of April."

Next Meet

This Leopard's continue in action this coming weekend at Point Loma Nazarene University and the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational in San Diego.
